Our mission is to offer assistance at no charge to individuals suffering from Lyme disease and cancer, and to provide trusted information about the benefits of hyperthermia and other treatment options at specialized clinics world-wide.”

Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is the fastest growing vector-borne infectious disease in the US

If you have been living with with chronic Lyme disease, I can imagine that you probably feel incredibly frustrated. Not only are you sick and tired of being sick and tired, but you have most likely spent a lot of money on treatments already and are still left without any quality of life. I know where you are because I have been there too.

I was misdiagnosed for many years and became completely debilitated from Lyme. Hyperthermia was the first treatment that my body actually responded to and gave me my life back. If you would like to find out more information about whether this treatment is the right option for you, we would be happy to set up a free consultation to see if it’s a match.
how is lyme disease treated?

If detected in its early stage, Lyme disease can often be treated with an appropriate course of antibiotic therapy. If undetected, untreated, or if not given a long enough dose of antibiotics, then the bacteria replicates and the disease can become chronic. During Chronic Lyme disease, biofilms form around the Lyme bacteria, and antibiotics cannot penetrate through the biofilm to reach the infection. However, hyperthermia breaks down biofilms, and reaches high enough temperatures to kill the Lyme bacteria.

Where is Lyme Disease Found?

Lyme disease has been found on every continent except Antarctica. It has been spread to all 50 states, with a particularly high incidence in the East, Midwest, and West Coast. Rates have increased substantially over time.

How is Lyme Disease Diagnosed?

Lyme disease is often clinical diagnosis—based on your medical history, symptoms, and exposure to ticks. As the current two-tier testing model for Lyme Disease recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) misses over 1/2 of actual cases. More reliable tests can be found at Armin Labs, IGeneX, Fry Labs, Galaxy Diagnostics, and DNA Connexions.

What are the symptoms of Lyme Disease?

There are over a hundred different symptoms of Lyme disease recorded. Symptoms can also change over time, as the bacteria spreads throughout the body. Often the infection will attack wherever the patient is genetically weak. Lyme disease can affect almost any organ of your body, including the brain, nervous system, muscles and joints, and the heart. Symptoms can overlap those of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, depression and Alzheimer’s disease. Therefore, many patients with Lyme report being misdiagnosed with a different condition before being properly diagnosed with Lyme disease. For a more complete list of symptoms click here.

What are co-infections?

“Vectors” such as ticks, mosquitos, and fleas transmit Lyme and co-infections from animals like mice, rats, and squirrels to humans when they bite. Ticks can carry many bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoans all at the same time and transmit them in a single bite. Some common infections carried by a tick other than Lyme disease include bartonella, babesiosis, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, relapsing fever, tularemia, Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF). A person infected with co-infections generally experience more severe symptoms and a longer recovery.

Cancer

Cancer rates have been rising at an alarmingly rate during the last three decades

Cancer has become the second leading cause of death behind cardiovascular disease. If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, you are probably scared and overwhelmed.  We can help you evaluate your options for cancer treatment including hyperthermia. It can be a very effective way to kill cancer cells and help you fight, even for people that have not responded to other treatments.

what is cancer?

Cancer can begin any place in the body and starts when abnormal cells grow out of control and crowd out normal healthy cells. Cancer forms when the body’s normal control mechanisms stop functioning. Old cells do not die and instead continue to create new abnormal cells. The additional cells are what may create a mass of tissue called a tumor. A mass that is cancerous is called malignant. Although, not all cancers form tumors, as there are some cancers that grow in the blood or other cells of the body.

What Triggers Can Induce Cancer?

Cancer can be caused by multiple different factors. Some of the main causes include, an impaired immune system, elevated levels of environmental toxins, lifestyle factors, dietary habits, chronic stress, infectious agents, hormones in food, drugs, radiation exposure, free radicals, and electromagnetic fields.

What Stage is the Cancer?

The treating doctors need to know if and how far the cancer has spread. Knowing the stage of the cancer helps the doctor decide the appropriate treatment. Stage 1 or 2 is a lower stage of cancer and often means the cancer has not spread significantly. Stage 3 or 4 means that the cancer has spread and is more serious.

How is Cancer Treated?

Conventional medicine usually treats the symptoms of the disease. However, not the root cause, which can then develop a better chance of a reoccurrence in cancer later on.  By combining conventional treatments with integrative therapies, patients have the best chance of not only overcoming the symptoms but also restoring their health. By activating the immune system through hyperthermia and then incorporating nutrient infusions and detoxification therapies the body is given its best fighting chance to recover.

Hyperthermia

The Treatment that Gave Us Our Lives Back

No, not hypothermia, where you are lowering your body temperature. We are talking about Hyperthermia, a treatment that increases the body temperature in a specific way to treat illness directly or to intensify the effect of other therapies.  Hyperthermia is a strong immunotherapy and an established principle treatment for chronic infectious diseases. The hospitals that we work with, use machines that reach temperatures as high as 107.6° Fahrenheit (42° Celsius). To be successful, it is important that hyperthermia is done in hospital settings that have high-quality equipment within an environment that offers detoxification therapies to support the body.

What temperature does the body need to increase to when treating lyme?

The core temperature of the body is increased carefully through the use of whole-body infrared-A-irradiation. The goal is to bring the body temperature to at least 106° F (41.1° C), which is the temperature at which it is believed many strains of Borreliosis are affected. If the patient is able to tolerate higher temperatures, doctors at the hospitals in Germany and Mexico believe it is preferable to try and reach 107° F (41.67° C) and slightly above.

Why hyperthermia’s approach is so effective?
  • Increasing body temperature kills Lyme microbes and other co-infections.
  • Increases the effectiveness of antibiotics, by enabling antibiotics to get inside the cells more easily.
  • Disrupts the structural integrity of biofilms
  • Stimulates the detoxification process
  • Signals the immune system to increase

Why is hyperthermia a game changing treatment for Cancer?

Raising the core body temperature artificially induces a fever response, which stimulates the immune system to work harder.  It also assists to increase the effectiveness of other cancer therapies, and it can help the body to release so that toxins can be eliminated by the body.

During Hyperthermia therapy, tumorous tissue is heated using different techniques. As a result of this heating:

  • The cancer cells are damaged
  • The blood and oxygen supply are reduced, causing an increase of cancer cell killing
  • The body’s own immunological defense mechanisms are activated

Is hyperthermia treatment safe?

The body can tolerate temperatures under 43° C. Therefore, the target temperature is 41-42° C.  Extreme-whole body hyperthermia is considered safe when performed in an in-hospital setting where you are monitored the entire procedure, and detoxification therapies are provided before hyperthermia to prepare your body for treatment, and after to help your body with the die off reaction. While side effects are rare, the most common ones are minor burns, blisters, rashes, diarrhea, nausea, and fatigue. In very rare cases, serious complications could occur.  However, throughout the many years these hospitals have carried out whole-body hyperthermia treatment, careful selection of patients in compliance with doctors’ recommendations have kept the risks associated with hyperthermia to an absolute minimum. In general, this form of therapy is considered to be highly effective and well tolerated.

Meet Michelle

President, Consultant, Clinical Nutritionist

Michelle McKeon is the owner and operator of Lyme and Cancer Services.  She is also a Certified Clinical Nutritionist who specializes in tick-borne diseases, hyperthermia treatment, detoxification, gut health, and inflammatory issues.  Michelle was introduced to functional medicine after her personal struggle with a debilitating battle of Lyme disease. The tick that bit her also infected Michelle with the co-infections Bartonella, Powassan virus, Protomyxzoa Rhuematica, and Mycoplasma Pneumonia. After years of trying the various treatment options available, and not responding to the protocols, she decided to receive whole-body hyperthermia treatment. This treatment saved her life, and for the first time she was able to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Once returning home from the hospital, she immersed herself in daily detoxification and cell membrane repair therapies, vitamins and supplements, herbal tinctures, and she followed a strict diet to aid her body in the recovery process. From this experience, she decided to go back to school to receive a master’s degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport. Upon graduating Summa Cum Laude she began her private practice as a Certified Clinical Nutritionist at Balancing Pathways. She has authored two Ebooks, and advocates for people with health conditions through collaborating on projects with Generation Lyme, writing articles for health magazines, and speaking at conferences and support groups.

She has been guiding both local and long-distance clients worldwide through addressing various factors that are causing their symptoms. Michelle looks for these answers through exploring mold mycotoxins, genetic/methylation issues, heavy metals, tick-borne infections, cell membrane damage, candida, parasites and viral infections, dental issues, diet, and gut flora.  Her hope is to support people in their healing journey by educating them about hyperthermia as a successful treatment option, and by directing patients on the therapies received before, during, and after hyperthermia treatment. It does get better. Read about Michelle McKeon’s personal health story here.
